Change comes slowly to Mississippi, and it is hard to defeat an incumbent in any election. While our campaign to bring new leadership to the House of Representatives fell short on Election Day, we gave our opponent a tough fight, based on the contrast between his record and our ideas and energy. Those ideas—and a fiscally conservative philosophy—remain the right course for our state’s future. We fell short, but we did not lose. I am very proud of the campaign we ran. I am confident that “politics as usual” in the Legislature will eventually give way to progress for Mississippi’s future. If we have helped to bring that about more quickly, then our efforts have been well worth it. As always, I will continue working for a better Mississippi. We’re just getting started! To my supporters, those who gave so much in time, effort, and treasure, thank you. We are very thankful, too, for the countless prayers from supporters, and for God’s faithfulness through it all. There is no adequate way to convey how much so many of you have touched Stephanie, Webb and me during the campaign. We treasure the friendships new and old, and the memories of an effort well worth making! Mississippi’s Moment is Now. Let’s all keep working to capture it!
